Nestled in the historic Ebbw Valley, Abercarn Bowls Club is a proud member of the Monmouthshire County Bowling Association (est. 1924) and the Welsh Bowling Association, welcoming players at the Welfare Ground, Abercarn.
Abercarn is a close-knit community in the Caerphilly County Borough, set in the beautiful Ebbw Valley — 10 miles northwest of Newport on the A467. The town's name derives from the Welsh "aber" (confluence) and "carn" (cairn), reflecting its proud Welsh heritage.
Our club plays out of the historic Welfare Ground — a venue that has served the Abercarn sporting community for generations. We compete in the Monmouthshire County Bowling Association, affiliated to the Welsh Bowling Association.
Whether you're a seasoned bowler or picking up a wood for the first time, you'll find a warm welcome, a well-kept green, and a community spirit second to none.
The green has been declared fit for play and our 2026 fixtures are confirmed with the Monmouthshire County Bowling Association. Opening day was a wonderful occasion with great turnout from members.
